Abstract | This book, commissioned by the National Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall and compiled by National Taipei University of Education, presents a curated selection of overseas literature on Taiwan’s democratic movement. Scholars Ho Yi-Lin, Hsu Wei-Te, and Lan Shih-Chi have gathered 57 publications and poetic works, organized by themes such as discussions on Taiwan’s future, international dynamics, the impact of global human rights declarations on Taiwan’s human rights movement, and cross-border advocacy for political reform and democracy. Each document includes background commentary on its historical significance and author, with three introductory essays to contextualize these writings within their historical and cultural settings. The book also includes 26 historical images and an overview of publications by the Taiwanese diaspora, clarifying the unique characteristics and historical role of these groups. In addition to serving as a historical reference, this collection offers insights for those interested in transitional justice in Taiwan’s democratic journey. |
