Abstract | This book, commissioned by the National Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, examines Lei Chen’s imprisonment and later life, analyzing the human rights abuses he and his family endured from the perspectives of freedom, democracy, and human rights. It also explores Lei’s later political reform proposals, situating them within the broader historical context of Taiwan’s democratic movement during the 1950s to 1970s. This work highlights Lei’s significant role in advancing democratic ideals and shaping Taiwan’s political evolution. |
