The large spacious area along which visitors walk after passing through the magnificent decorated archway and Democracy Square is called Democracy Boulevard and extends to the stairs that lead to the Memorial Hall. The 40m wide and 380m long area is paved with flagstones made of artificial stone and is frequently used for art and cultural performances and activities, attracting large audiences. As visitors walk along the boulevard they can enjoy carpet beds of colorful flora on either side. Every year on National Day (October 10th) the area becomes a sea of national flags, a magnificent sight to behold.
